This block tutorial shows how to make the Double Four Patch block as shown in the 2019 Quilter’s Planner.

Double Four Patch Block

Number of Fabrics: 3 | Number of Pieces: 10

(4) 2″ squares

(4) 2″ squares

(2) 3 1/2″ squares

Piecing

Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew (2) 2″ squares together. Press to the darker fabric. Row should measure 2″ x 3 1/2″. Repeat to make (4).

Nesting seams, sew rows together with a 1/4″ seam. Press seam open. Four Patch should measure 3 1/2″ square. Repeat to make (2).

Sew a Four Patch and a 3 1/2″ square together. Press seam away from the Four Patch. Row should measure 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. Repeat to make (2).

Nesting seams, sew rows together with a 1/4″ seam. Press seam open.

The finished Double Four Patch Block should measure 6 1/2″ square.
