The amazing quilting artist Kelly Cline has generously contributed one of her stunning, artfully quilted vintage handkerchief quilt squares to help promote the 2017 edition of the Quilter’s Planner!
Framing a quilt square really highlights the expert craftsmanship and skill that goes into making a quilt block, and Kelly has really outdone herself on this work of art:
This is a vintage drawn thread embroidery on a background of beach-colored satin, quilted with a piano key border. Even if you aren’t a quilter, this stunning piece is full of antique details and artful techniques that invite you to look closely. There are small crystals decorating the lace squares and the center quilted rosette, as well. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?
It’s exquisite. What I particularly love is the layered effect underneath the lace, which has a subtle shimmer to it. It’s the sort of thing that will one day be in a museum, it is that beautifully done, with so many considered details. With work as fine as this, it makes sense to have it in a frame and put it on your wall, don’t you think? And even though it has a real old world romance to it, a delicate work of art like this can easily integrate into your modern style:
It looks very cozy amidst a mix of modern and vintage pieces, and would be equally at home hung on the wall or artfully arranged on a shelf or a mantle. Wouldn’t you love to win this for yourself, or maybe as a gift for someone special? (NOTE: This giveaway is now closed.)
