2022 is just around the corner and we are here to help with your goals and dreams! From creating vision boards, to actionable steps, follow our guide to smashing your goals next year.

2022 is fast approaching and it’s time to start making goals and plans for the year ahead! After all, goals and dreams are much more likely to happen if they are written down. We have created lots of space in the planner to enable you to do so, and importantly, create actionable steps to achieve your goals. But where to start? We’ve put together a step by step guide to achieving all you want in 2022.

Create a Vision Board

There’s a whole page in the planner dedicated to creating your vision board. This is where you can have some fun! Think about all the things you’d like to happen, the places you’d like to go and the things you’d like to achieve. Cut out magazine pictures, photos, words, quotes that resonate and anything that you dream and aspire to do. Remember, you are the captain of your ship, and you can go in any direction you wish, or change at any time. You don’t have to be the same person that you were yesterday. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it!

Yearly Goal Planning

Now we’re getting more specific. Head to the yearly goal planning page and you will see that there are spaces for 3 goals. You may wish to have more goals, but the more goals you have, the harder it will be to achieve them. Sometimes it is better to focus on just three, and achieve those, then you can consider new goals. So assuming you’re focusing on three, break it down. Maybe one will be a quilting focus, one a health focus and one a work focus. Write down each goal in the box. Now for the detail. HOW are you going to achieve each goal? Use bullet points or a numbered list to write down actionable steps. This is where you need to be specific. It has to be something you can DO to take you closer to your goal. Then you can use your planner to map out time to work towards that goal. Let’s take a look at an example. Your goal could be to be fitter and healthier. This is very general. So the actionable steps could be:

1) Go for a walk at lunchtime 3 days a week.
2) Take an online yoga class twice a week.
3) Drink a litre of water a day.

You could plan each week in the diary pages by setting aside time for walking and yoga. You could use your habit tracker to monitor your water intake. Remember, the actions to achieve your goals have to be realistic, so don’t commit to walking 5 days a week then find you can’t keep it up. You need to set yourself up for success. Your goals need to be achievable for YOU!

Monthly Goal Planning

At the beginning of every month is a monthly goal planning page where you can hone in on your goals, taking into account any important dates that might be coming up. There is also the opportunity to consider who you want to connect with and what you want to read/watch. So often, connecting with people and relaxation are the last things to happen, so it helps to put these things into focus. There is also a reminder to add some of these plans into your weekly calendar pages. We’ve said it before…if it’s written down, it’s more likely to happen!

The other great thing about the monthly goals page page is the chance for reflection and to consider what worked well in the previous month. Then there’s space to consider what you might like to change in the month ahead. It could be that you didn’t have a good work/life balance, so moving forward you need to factor in more ‘you time.’ Or perhaps you didn’t get to spend as much time outdoors as you would like, so perhaps you could factor in some weekend walks, or socials outside with friends. Maybe your quilting took a hit. (Disaster!) Make sure you carve out time for the things that are really important to you moving forward.

Inspiration and Gratitude

Words can be so powerful and have a profound impact on us, and so often we see something then forget about it. So we really encourage you to write down anything that resonates with you or motivates you in some way. It could be a quote, a single word, a series of words or perhaps something that someone said that you never want to forget. For January, perhaps you’d like to consider a word for the year that inspires and focuses you. You can refer to it time and time again and have it as your motto for 2022.

We hope that these ideas for goal setting for 2022 set you on the path to success! If you’ve not got your planner yet, you can find them in our online shop here. Don’t forget, it’s never too early, never too late to set goals and work towards them!
