This block tutorial shows how to make the Triple Rail Fence block as shown in the 2019 Quilter’s Planner.
Triple Rail Fence Block
Number of Fabrics: 3 | Number of Pieces: 12
(4) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles
(4) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles
(4) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles
Piecing
Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew (3) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles together. Press all seams in the dame direction, towards the darkest fabric. Sub-block should measure 3 1/2″ square. Repeat to make (4).
Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew (2) sub-blocks together. Press toward the right sub-block. Upper Row should measure 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.
Using a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew (2) sub-blocks together. Press toward the left sub-block. Lower Row should measure 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.
Nesting seams, sew rows together with a 1/4″ seam. Press seam open.
The finished Triple Rail Fence Block should measure 6 1/2″ square.
